Part of this project is to be able to take on and produce an advisement it is also to be able to take criticism, instructions and direct well. I will be working with my class mate Elliot who will be making the music for my advert. I can tell him everything I would like my advert to include (realistically). I will then be making the music fr Elliot's advert also. These are a few examples of what I would like my advertisement to sound like, this will give Elliot a much clearer view and should hopefully make it easier for him. would like my advertisment to be heavily inspired by the following ideas that came to mind;
Roughly I would like my soundtrack for my advert to sound very summery and old fashioned. I purposely wanted and old fashioned soundtrack purely because my advert footage is of young girls. Having an older song with attract an older auidence fan base.
My brief
Elliot, my advertisement is an indie beauty product. It is upbeat and I would really like the soundtrack to be catchy. Any sound effects that suit my advert best would be great. If possible I would love my advert to sound as much as it can like 'The Cardigans'.
Elliot's brief
Hey, my advert is very short and snappy I need a soundtrack that is fun and entertaining for the audience. The shots in my advert are very short so I would really like my soundtrack to be in time with it. SFX are a positive as long as they are appropriate. Below are a few examples of soundtracks I would like mine to sound like. Use this as inspiration.
My (soundtrack) research I gave Elliot
I like this song not because of it's popularity but it's also got that 'dance' feel to it.
It's quite a happy song and it's catchy. I personally don't think that it matters if the song has no relevance to the footage being played at the same time, as long as the footage interesting and eye catching, although this is a very popular song and a lot of people may recognize this from other media fields such as the new 'Inbetweeners' film. I don't think I would want the audience to compare my advert with the film 'inbetweeners'.
I came across this 1950's cosmetics commmerical whilst doing some reseach online. I liked this advert in particular as the music at the beginning music sounds nothing like the music most women listen to today. By adding the beginning music bit to my advert it would bring back originality and would most definitely stand out from it's competitiors.
This is an extremely well known song. It is used in a lot of advertisement fields along with films. However this is a cover remix therefore it is different in some way! I prefer this to the original and I think it'll bring that edge to my advert instead of following the crowd of mainstream music. After a long hard think, I realized that this is nothing how I would like my advert to sound. I noticed this when I looked back at my storyboard and pictured it in my head. The songs are too comparable and wouldn't necessarily fit to how I imagined it. Not only am I changing the sound of my advert but also the narrative. Therefore I will need to re do the pre production and planning. I've cut down the song.
After all my research on trying to find different songs to influence Elliot, I finally came to the conclusion that I would like my soundtrack to sound extremely close if not exactly to the song 'carnival' by 'the cardigans'.
Elliot's soundtrack research
For my advert I am looking for happy summery music which will fit the theme of my advert and also the colours. Examples of what i am looking for would be a song called Draper - Painting the sky, liquid drum and bass like Tomek N - October and Ellie Gouldings - Starry eyed (jakob wob remix) which can all be found below. These three songs are all very different, i wouldn't be looking to combine all the genres into one, it would be up to you which sort of track you would choose.
With Daft Punks - Technologic the style of the music is really cool but it isn't what i'm looking for, it is more about the beat. How i can have the tshirts changing with the music
From this soundtrack I can tell Elliot wants it to be as fun and as summery as possible. This is something I will need to look into more depth at.
In this soundtrack I have noticed a lot of tracks have been placed on top of each other to create a fade effect. On Cubase I will be able to pan and use fades for Elliot's soundtrack.
This song is extremely popular and is known for it's great beat and energy that makes you want to dance. Although Elliot does not want me to make his soundtrack sound like this I presume his video will just be as faced paced as this one.
My storyboard and script

Camera: Fades from white to the sun, light comes through as a lens flare then camera pans down.
Music: Music also fades in at this point.
Camera: subject is standing there as the camera tracks down
Camera: Top will change every few seconds, going through t-shirts pillow case and a onesie.
Music: The beat of the music will go in time of the switching of the clothing
Camera: The angle of the shot throughout is near enough the same.
Camera: As the final clip, the subject will throw the 'drop dead' wristband at the lens and it fades out.
Music: Fades out with camera.
